Drought Concessional Loan Scheme

The Drought Concessional Loan Scheme has been extended with the loan period now 10 years and the interest rate is 2.47% for loans up to $1 million. We understand from Patrick White, Horsham Rural Councillor, that there is still plenty of funding available. He also mentioned that despite the rain over the last season the Wimmera was still eligible but he suspects by April/May it may be removed so there is a window of opportunity!

Farm Household Allowance Payments

A warning for those receiving Centrelink payments regarding the Farm Household Allowance. If you have had a good year i.e. greater than $50k profit then the income received from Centrelink for this financial year may need to be paid back when Centrelink assess your income after 30 June.

If you suspect this may include you then you may wish to suspend payments immediately to reduce the amount you will need to pay back at the end of the year.
